Questions & Answers
Everything you need to know about wedding dance lessons at Arthur Murray Raleigh
How far in advance should we start wedding dance lessons?
We recommend starting 2-3 months before your wedding for the best results. This gives you enough time to learn, practice, and feel confident without feeling rushed. However, we can work with any timeline – we’ve helped couples prepare in as little as 2 weeks!
Do we need any dance experience?
Absolutely not! Most of our wedding couples are complete beginners. Our instructors specialize in working with all skill levels and will create a routine that’s perfect for your comfort level and abilities.
Can you choreograph to any song?
Yes! We can create beautiful choreography to virtually any song. Our instructors will listen to your chosen song and design movements that complement the music’s rhythm, mood, and your personal style.
What if we have different skill levels?
This is very common! Our instructors are experts at creating choreography that makes both partners look great, regardless of their individual skill levels. We’ll design moves that highlight each person’s strengths.
How long will our dance routine be?
Most wedding dances are 2-3 minutes long, which is perfect for keeping your guests engaged. We can work with the full song or edit it to the perfect length for your comfort level and venue requirements.
What dance styles do you teach for weddings?
We teach all styles! Popular choices include waltz, foxtrot, swing, rumba, and contemporary. We’ll recommend the best style based on your song choice and personal preferences.
Can you help with parent dances too?
Absolutely! Many of our wedding packages include parent dance instruction. We can help with father-daughter, mother-son, and any other special dances for your reception.
What should we wear to lessons?
Wear comfortable clothes you can move in. For shoes, avoid rubber soles if possible – leather soles or dance shoes work best. We have shoe recommendations and can help you find the perfect wedding day shoes too!
